Ne Iowa | I don’t know if getting bigger necessarily means coops are getting healthier. Every day someone gets their own sprayer or spreader, gets their own semi or builds a new bin. And every day someone who utilized those services retires. A group in my neighborhood have even set up their own anhydrous facility. At some point the loss of business will override the increase in efficiency. Maybe delivering feed to hog buildings will float them but I bet profits are cut to the bone to get that business. | |
