| Same reason most farmers add ground.
I think it's funny, we have a couple of close co-ops that are still just a couple locations. They both do a good job, although one is a dinosaur and in some trouble. But they can't service a couple of bigger growers around here because the farms can scale out the co-ops. Bigger and faster grain leg, more trucks, bigger sprayers on the farm than at the co-op. The cooperative model as it existed 70 years ago is no longer competitive. It's easier to add ground than to figure out a new way to do business. | |
