There aren't many farmers left, number wise. To have a system to serve what's left is a difficult proposition, since most of them are into disintermediation, or bypassing local business chasing better deals. I am glad I'm not on the board of a Coop. Seems like there are no good answers to a myriad of issues that affect long term viability.
