We always calve our heifers at the same time as the cows, mainly because all 3 of us have other jobs. About the only thing we do differently with the heifers is to pen them up with their calves. Sometimes we will also bottle feed the calf a pint or so of powdered colostrum to get them up and active. A good mineral program also helps with the reduce the number of stupid calves.
