Texas | Maybe I am sort of chivalrous but when my girlfriend moved in with me 15 years ago I paid for everything except her car, cell phone, and car insurance. We are now married and she stays home and takes care of the kids.
Whatever you do with finances it is setting the stage for how things will go for the future. By that I mean if you do the money a certain way now it is not likely to change when/if you get married.
If your plans are to marry her some day and have her stay home and raise kids I would just pay for everything now but if you plan on getting married and both working and no kids I would figure out how to split the expenses.
Her moving in will cost you very little extra over what you spend now but her expensive apartment, utilities etc will all go away so she will have a ton of leftover money. | |
