Subject: RE: Pickups and Farmers

scmn
I bought my 2008 crew cab diesel srw 1 ton in the fall of 2008 new. I was told I should have waited or bought used. Needless to say, I talked with a guy 3 months later that bought an 07 ext cab gas 3/4 ton and paid more for it with 15k on than my 08 cost new 3 months prior. 247k miles later and I am still driving it. No plans at the moment to trade, but I still stop in at the dealer every now and then to see what they have and what they will give me for mine. I usually figure it costs around 25 cents a mile to trade, which would mean around $61,750 to go back to new (Should be able to buy equivalent new for less than $60k). The worst part is dealers are asking more than I paid new for the same pickup with 100k miles on it. They are not real happy when you call them about the 08 on the lot and they ask what you got to trade and you tell them same thing, just has 247k; Kind of puts them in a difficult spot since they want 20-30k to trade, but NADA puts less than 11k difference in value.
