C IL | I ended up with a year old SUV (one on a truck frame). Ran it 150k and taking care of it hoping it lasts for 300 more. Cheaper than a year old pickup. Figure that out.
Couldn't touch a used pickup for any reasonable amount of money. The good used pickup market is .. Illogical, and also an oxymoron. Too many teen kids wanting a lifestyle vehicle that just can't afford a new one, so they pay a higher cost/mile than it costs to start with a new or almost new one.
My 1984 single cab long bed works just fine for the few times a year I actually need a pickup, instead of a vehicular conveyance to and from, or service/flatbed/tandem/semi truck.
