Every young guy deserves to drive something nice if he at least earned some of it. Things change when all the financial obligations of life and family are his. You look at things differently then. My truck has 306,664 and plenty of rust. I'm just fine with it. Maxed out the Roth this month though. Just different priorities. I wouldn't have been caught dead in my current truck when I was 18. Now all I can think of we (my wife and i) haven't had a car payment in 14 years. Saving now for a new ride for my wife. I'll pay cash. I'm never going to pay interest on a car the rest of my life. And I wouldn't even consider a fleece (oops, I meant lease)
