I was in that category when I was their age. Then I figured out I could buy land or a new pickup but not both.
I bought a nearly new pickup 30 years ago and 6 months later I had to sell it to come up with enough money for a down payment on some land. That land is worth over $700,000 today. I tell my kids that would have been one expensive pickup.
