70-80 hours/week is sort of a minimum during the busy times of year on a farm. You're 24 and starting out, if not for the other issues, 100 hours/week should not be an issue if you really want to farm.

I find that most guys don't miss being at home as much once they have a few kids running around and momma is giving most of her energy to raising the kids. Also with a family comes increased financial needs. It focuses a person on providing for his family and the hours don't seem so burdensome.

If your wife's health was fine and you and your uncle got along, do you think the hours would still be a problem? If so, then you might need a different line of work. Also consider how you might handle the stress of providing for your and your brother's future families while trying to make enough money to buy out your uncle and/or grandfather. Are you cut out for it? It may require even more hours. You are young. Give it some time before you choose to go a different way.
