well I hate to say it but I think it is a generation thing I am 48 have 3 boys in their early twenties and I know none of them could out work their old man when I was in my early twenties worked as a spotter at roadway express in Chicago hts. longest stretch I ever did was 63 12 hour days straight with a few 14hr ones in there plus an hour drive each way did severial 35 day stretches. just like today they had enough after 10 hours mean while the old man goes another 4
Probably had to walk 5 miles to school in 3 feet of snow uphill both ways when you were a kid too I bet? ;)
Every generation thinks they worked harder than the one that comes after them, and they're probably right to a certain extent as technology improves and makes people's lives easier. And there is no doubt that things like air conditioning have made people not as tough as they used to be. |
