WCIL | Just imagine the $$$ spent trying to get your kid a college scholarship. Travelling teams were only offered in HS when my kids were that age. Neither were good enough for a traveling team. The boys in our school did "travel basketball". Yea, they were pretty good and fun to watch in HS. Only one kid played basketball after HS and that was one year of Juco. Save the money, have family vacations, have supper together, have fun with friends on the local team, put the money into a college savings plan. or their 4-H or FFA projects.
Our family tries to get together in the late summer every year. We keep getting prevented due to all the kids still playing softball, baseball, volleyball and soccer traveling teams. There is one small week when: traveling teams stop, no football practice, and school starting from 5 different states. |
