E. Kansas | I run 220 volts from my Montgomery Ward 5000 watt generator to a separate breaker box I set up in my basement. Have two 120 volt breakers that each feed its own outlet right beside the breaker box. I cut my power line going to propane furnace and put on male and female plugs. Then can just unplug and plug into extension cord when needed. Also rotate extension cords to freezers and run a few lights. Main downside is my old generator only runs for two hours on tank of gas. It was my grandpa's and didn't cost me anything. So I keep using it. I just plug into the male end of cord that permanently sticks out side of house. May look a little "trashy", but it works for me.
