Subject: Did we learn anything from last week?

I want to be better prepared in case of a giant long term power outage. Did being out of electricity bother me for it’s 2 1/2 hour length with 20 to 30 below temps? Absolutely not. BUT what would I could have, should have done if there was outage expected for 3 to 10 days? Bad blizzard, tornado etc.

How do I, my kids, neighbors put enough heat at extreme temps to keep pipes from freezing on the long haul? Do those double head sunflower head heaters that attach to a grill lip throw off too much co2? How long might a tank last? Any ventless heater that could attach to a natural gas line?

Obviously a whole house gen set with proper safe double throw safety switch would be cats meow BUT have never really needed one in 70 plus years so far, do I really need one now? Suggestions to getter done without breaking the bank. On a short budget.
