Southern Alberta Canada | I have an 8000w generator, I just wire it into a dual pole 50a breaker in the shop and shut off the breaker on pole and it'll power the whole yard. Heating and such are gas.
People told me I needed an isolation switch but I've talked to three linemen here and they say it's not a requirement as they have to insure the lines are safely grounded before they do any work, they said there are many potential sources of electricity so they need to do due diligence anyway but it is stupid not to trip the breaker as it'll produce losses and potentially wreck your generator when the power comes back on. | |
