Fruita CO
First job I ever had off the ranch, I made $1.75 an hour, laying 10" concrete irrigation pipe for the neighbor. Worked 31 days straight, no overtime, thought I was rich when I got that check. The big ranch neighbors sold out to a California outfit, & they hired a manager for $1000 a month, everybody thought he really cut a fat hog in the a**, & he wasn't worth that much...(the fat gasbag wasn't)...
As a newlywed, I went to work in the JD dealer shop for $2.75, no health insurance or other benefits. The boss did give a nice bonus at Christmas if we had a good year. We lived on that.
Yes, things have changed...
