I'm 53 and started operating tractors and old equip. at 10 on open tractors.

I guess hearing the stuff operate was 2nd nature out of need.

Sometimes I will run with the cab window open so I can hear all the sounds the planter, baler, or  mower just to monitor the sounds for some extra squeak, clunk or bearing running dry.

I always liked that about the 6620 combine, kick the right side door open if you herd a funny sound. 9500 not so much.

Don't get me wrong I love my cabs and don't want to go back to all open equip. But with all the monitors and great cabs do the younger guys even know when something sounds wrong?

Dave

That's why I lost my hearing.
