I listen as well. Sometimes it's a soft whisper and sometimes it surprises you and is shouting. lol I'm talking about field machinery too.
When I was little and Dad had me start running equipment, he said just listen to it(no cab and no radios). At first I didn't really know what he mean, but I soon caught on. That Versatile 400 sure talked a lot too. I didn't think you could listen to so many different noises at once....chatter of the sickle, the flap of the canvases, the grain touching the batts on the reel, the whirrrr of the engine, the hum of the hydrostats....sure brings back "kid memories". Still use that swather too, so I hope to teach our little boy the same things.
