My grandad sent a rail car load of hogs to the Kansas City Stock Yards during the great depression loaded in Pittsburg Kansas (about 150 miles).

The settlement came back freight due. My grandpa was one to pay his bills, but my dad told me the RR never got paid for that bill.

Grandpa sent a load of cattle to St Louis back then and got a bill for yardage. He told them he didn't have any money but he could send more cattle.
