I work both sides of this. From the elevator side, if enough guys want hours and there is weather coming we will be open on a Sunday, but you will get a 12-5 or 1-6. The bigger elevators have longer hours but the smaller ones can’t justify the OT for fewer bushels. We were not open because only one guy asked for hours the rest said no. The last Sunday we were open we didn’t have 3000 bu in 4 hours. We are required to have at least 3 people here all hourly.

Most of the guys that come in here are good about getting in on time and our hours work. The ones I hate are the ones that show up 1 hour or less before closing and raise a stink because we are closing too early or not open on the weekend. If you were worried about it you should have been here 8 hours ago, but we are the bad guys. The worst guys we have are full time farmers not the weekend warriors.

Most guys bins work. Others have no business with a bins because they cannot manage their grain quality. Usually they are the same ones that don’t like our hours.
