NE Iowa
Lots of discussions on plant or wait, cold rain, cold soils, etc. I'm in NE Iowa and it seems like soil temps seem warmer than normal this year. Oats emerged quicker than normal this year. Alfalfa is taller than normal and flowers are blooming 2 weeks earlier than normal. Below is a pic of 4" soil temps in Iowa. Maybe I should have got out my own thermometer but based on this I was rolling this weekend even though I'm a STO. Ground conditions were good. A little disappointed the forecast lows keep dropping but I quit planting yesterday morning and it started raining an hour ago and is currently 58 degrees out. Are people seeing soil temps that difference from this map?
