NW KS/ SC ID | Well, dad wont let me change hydraulic oil on the tractor, says its too expensive. now its making a different noise.
Tillage tractor, I either want working lights, or working a/c. dont need both, just need one and I will plan accordingly.
It has been decades since the 3 speed in the oliver loader tractor has seen an oil change (why should it, only gets less than 50 hours a year.....) so now we are down to 1 usable gear in it.
I am all for being frugal, but being destructively cheap I have a huge problem with.
How many of y'all get yelled at for greasing stuff? Purge a u-joint of black burnt smelling grease, rather than give it just a few pumps till you hear it crackle like what is expected, and you would have swore I ran over a case of fresh grease tubes over in the driveway...
The only way I am dealing with this issue is buying my own equipment, either free and clear, or with a loan from my only sister who lives off farm. At least I maintain my stuff pretty well IMO.
Next up: the grain truck fleet.
Fun times. :)
But hey, it could be worse!
