The reason I asked like that is because that’s what I said to the shop foreman when I called this morning and he acted like it was funny that I believed it served as a charge pump. I was doubting myself. I always thought that was how it worked but he acted like I was dead wrong.

It’s a simple transmission so surely they can’t screw it up too bad but if the guy managing everything thinks the lube pump does not charge the hydraulic pump then how successful is this going to be?
