Wonder how big of a bale? I am assuming little squares. Those were probably labor intensive back then. It would be about 29 bales to make an acre at 75c and $22.50 per acre. God, if it were just little squares, that's one cutting.

Maybe it was repackaged back into a ton?
no it was little pecker wood baler bales. Rough prairie grass at that.
