I have been dealing with bankers on some projects. The one thing they have in common is all of them told me after harvest they are relooking at these loans. All of them told me they have farmers that will not be farming next year. One told me 10% of their production farmers will not be farming. This is going to get real.
How many of those bankers kept lending "rope" to hang these guys?
Clearly much of it is self inflicted, however I remember arguments this spring I had in here with other posters when bankers where "fluffing" projections and balance sheets so guys could keep going another year.
When the crap hits the fan in that case the banker gets to keep his house and the debtor loses theirs because they didn't want to have a come to Jesus moment with themselves before it was too late.
