central nebraska | I agree with the response on bathroom fans. I think contractors just pick the cheapest ones. Just finished replacing them in my house (only 7 yrs old) found out they were all undersized even in the smallest bathroom.
Dryer vent: make sure it is a short run or put a powered vent inline to help with the clothes dryer. I also specified a 2x6 wall in the laundry room so that I could put the dryer vent in the wall and go straight down in the wall and still push dryer all the way back to the wall. Contractor apparently didn't think it was necesary and framed it up with 2x4 it was to late t change when I realized it, now can't get the dryer pushed all the way back.
It's amazing that contractors can build houses for so long and not realize some of the little things I wanted to make life easier. The question I always got was "why would you want to do that?". My response was because I'm paying you to do it that way. And I've lived in multiple houses prior to building and I knew what I wanted.
