If you build a basement, make them 9 or even 10' ceilings. You can always lower the height with a drop panel ceiling. Same with the first floor. (I like my 9')
Neighbor built his basement with larger than normal blocks, then went to the smaller ones at the top. He was able to lay the floor joists so there wasn't a huge step into the house. (your mileage may vary with this, depending on local zoning.)
Add some conduit here and there for future wiring. And a central vac. |
