However many electrical outlets you are planning, double it!
Wish I had a mud room/bathroom that I could access from outside
Think about where you might put up Christmas tree/ lights inside and out and plan for outlets
We have a basement and it doesn't have outside access. I wish it did.
Basements are catchalls for junk but at least she keeps most of it down there
Farmers drive larger vehicles than most people. An F-350 takes more room than a Prius. Size your garage accordingly!
In-floor heat in the garage would really be nice.
Don't know if your site is close to the road but rule of thumb is that find the elevation at the center of the road and build you foundation one block higher.
We did much like your talking and dedicated the money she was making to the house. We built sooner than we originally planned, spent more than we planned, borrowed a little, glad we did it as soon as we did. Once you get a good chunk saved, trying to hold out and wait until you can pay cash has a diminishing return. Build it as soon as you are comfortable because with 2 kids you need it sooner rather than later!
