About the basement; my neighbor had a full blown house fire, and had excavator had to dig out debris and bury it about 300 ft away, then dig the new basement hole and a very little rough plumbing got installed and concrete basement walls and concrete basement floor poured, and some water-proofing and 1" insulation (below grade) and dirt was mostly back-filled.

I was over there, at that moment (using hand shovels to level out back-fill against basement walls), and he happen to mention, that the bill was at $29,000, at that stage. I'm guessing the house size was roughly 35 x 50 ft.

It sure didn't look like much, for $29,000; for an open concrete hole, in the ground.
