Subject: RE: How do you manage potassium?

King City, Mo
I soil test good parts of fields andmpoormparts of my fields.

I noticed that the good parts are closer to Albrecht's balanced cations.

So I try and get my soils to 4% k base on a midwest labs test.

I'll retest some plots this spring to see if 300-600# of KCl made a difference. We applied a 10-50-80 for years and weren't making progress so I put on as much as I could afford.

I chose KCl as it's easy to get all the dry fert places seem to carry it.

I'm not into vrt as I can buy a another trailer load of fertilizer for what that equipment costs and I don't farm enough acres to justify. I do yield map everything in my head while I'm combining and then use that dad when I'm spreading the fertilizer. Not an exact science but prob better then a guy spreading my fert who,is just trying to cover acres.
