Ego plays a big part of a lot of expansion on farms.
I hate to see farms with mostly hired help. Why not let some of the hired hands have a chance to farm on their own? I know some don’t want the risk and hassle but still. It’s hurt rural communities. that is what happened to all the smaller dairies and hog farms. That killed the infrastructure in those communities. Now the only way left to expand in most young farmers mind is get more land at any cost. Just getting 10 more sows is not an option. |
