Ego plays a big part of a lot of expansion on farms.
I hate to see farms with mostly hired help. Why not let some of the hired hands have a chance to farm on their own? I know some don’t want the risk and hassle but still. It’s hurt rural communities.
A big operation runs the land just north of some land we bought, I was out there ripping it and one of their hired men drove down the field road to go do something with a pickup and then turned around a few minutes later and headed back out. Never looked over or waved. I miss the days of not only knowing who farms next to you, but they also would wave and maybe even stop and chat if they had time. We aren't progressing to the better here. |
