Haven't been hit in the field, but was walking home from the shop one day, probably 200 yards and I almost hit the ground when there was pretty much just a flash/bang all at once.  It didn't take me long to sprint the rest of the way to the house.  I'd say that's the closest I've been.  Didn't really see where it hit as I had other outbuildings all around but it was close.
