It is hard to evaluate on a total numbers figure unless a person has the context of other causes of death to compare. A better metric is looking at in deaths per 100,000.

Mortality is always 100%. It is when the death occurs and how much potential lifespan has been forfeited that is important. I think current average age of death by covid 19 is very close to average lifespan. Which is interesting.
