Where did you find your 2854838 number?

There are no official total 2020 death numbers that I’m aware of. That usually does not happen until almost a year after the year has ended.

There are only provisional numbers from the CDC as far as I’m aware. To figure out the total provisional deaths (they are updated weekly as stuff trickles in) you have to go to the CDC site, download the data and then examine it in excel or some other piece of software that can look at CSV files.

I totaled 2020 about a week ago or less using this method and it was about 3.365M deaths.
