| They are eating the sows that are getting liquidated, they would be filling the slots for where a fat hog used to be. The real problem will be when they don’t have either. All the while feed usage keeps going down. When the herd rebuilds it will be a slow many year process to get it back to where it’s consuming the feed it was. It’s not like they can just go to the neighbor and buy some bred gilts. The entire country is in the same boat. If they replace pigs with birds, that’s not going to be a gain either since they are more efficient than pigs.
Or the government could decide to just let the people starve. | |
