| about 2 years ago China had 50 million sows, poor feeding margins started a mild liquidation, ASF has accelerated it, their herd is less than 40 million today. For January alone, 1.3 million sows were culled according to their Minister of Ag dept. ... a new record. This week the Feb number was released 1.44 was reported liquidation. In the last 3 months 3.2 million total. in the last year 7 million. The ASF problem is accelerating, not stabilizing. 7 million sow represents a lot of feed usage. Their reproductive output that was never conceived nor born, never consumed a bite of feed. The repercussions of this event are in the infant stage. Recovery will take years in China. Biology has limits. Lending institutions aren't dumb enough to make loans to broke companies/individuals in the affected area because it is very likely that they will relapse if repop is attempted.
