Let kids make decisions and fail. They will learn and you are still around to give them another chance. Make the kids sacrifice to buy equipment and buy in rather than having them spend it on stupid stuff like new pickups and snowmobiles when they are young. If you make your kid a hired man until he is in his mid 40’s how is he suddenly going to become a manager. Good kids will add a lot to operation. Let them be in charge of a part of the farm and if they succeed give them more. Maybe technology or their strengths that they excel at.
