Grant Co. ND
In the situation my wife and I are in is pretty frustrating and much of the same story.

We live on my wife’s grandparents farm. We pay $500 a month in rent. They pay electric and buy the coal/propane. I will help grandpa with his projects around the farm and we can deduct $15/hr from rent.
The farm is not being used. Grandpa rents the land out. My wife has two horses. My wife and I would like to raise sheep but grandpa will not agree to it.

My wife’s parents live in town along with the grandparents. Aunts and one Uncle live farther away. Whenever we bring up ideas about purchasing the farm grandpa gets upset and says it is up to the kids.

The farm is in a living trust so technically grandpa could sell to us.

I told my wife that we should give the family three years to figure it out thenn move out if not. I highly doubt she would. Heck she told me she wants to die in that 101 year old house. Who says that!?!
