We had a deal for about the same amount. The attorney didn't wan to mess with it. My better half got him to file. Cost $250 to get the judgment and another $250 to get the lien. I think another $250 to force the sheriffs sale.
There was a bunch of liens ahead of us so we had to pay them off. Most took pennies on the dollar. If I had to do it over again I would just wait them out as they have to file every 9 years I think. As long as you don't sell they can't make you pay.
The only deal that got expensive was it was sold for taxes. I could spend a whole page on that story!
