Also, is it safe to say that he is making more than what he could get in cash rent? Around here ground goes for 300-350 an acre. 300 X 700 = 210,000. So he would make (minus property tax) 210,000 a year for doing NOTHING. So obviously he's got to be making a lot more than that farming right?
Most farmers who retire and "do nothing" , soon pass away from the massive change in their life. Its his land and his life, I think he's got it figured out. He also has some income tax advantages by farming. He wouldn't have those if he rented it out. |
