I have the same one.  When I first moved in I did some research to see if it was worth it.  In some cases it was possible to lose more heat using it then what you gained, the vacuum up the chimney would pull heat from other rooms.  It is maybe 10-20% efficient in the best case.

I am looking into an insert, seems foolish not to burn wood when I'm surrounded by 100+ year old oak trees.
