I guess my statement was about as strong one way as your was the other. Don't mean to get carried away...
In reality, OK, it won't pay for it in the first year on every operation. I don't think I said it would. Some outfits WOULD be able to pay for it in one year.
Here's the way I figure it: 1000 acres x 1.5 ave. gallons/ac. x 3 trips (1 rip+ 2 fc) x 10% overlap = $1350 in actual fuel savings per year. Pays for a basic EZsteer in about 5 years on tillage alone on 1000 acres without figuring in any other benefits at all. Did I mess up somewhere? I guess you could argue with my assumption on fuel use rate...I assumed 1.25 for FC and 2 on ripping...or with my 10% assumption on overlap...you may be a better driver than we are. | |
