Almost any time you tell of having a train wreck it is with new calves put into a barn. Did you ever consider putting new calves on pasture for a month before penning them? Maybe feed hay in portable bunks to get them used to eating? I know it would be a major shift, but maybe help with the respiratory problems from co-mingling green calves.
Anybody here consider themselves in the stocker/backgrounder business?
