S.E. Sask. | OntarioCanuck - 7/19/2014 20:23 And Canadian visitors to the US used to talk about how cheap their gas was for a 'gallon' without converting it to an Imperial gallon for comparison. The US may not now how to spell metric units but at least the unit is the same. And I am old enough to remember when a gallon of gas and that was an Imperial gallon or over 4.5 litres cost less than 20 cents AND the Canadian $ was worth more than the US $ at that time too. A five gallon pail of oil contained 5 Imperial gallons or 22.75 litres, then 20 litres and now 18.?? litres
We sure did not need that metric system imposed on us when we already had a perfectly good and usable imperial system of measures. 36.744 bushels of wheat in a tonne, etc. I think the worst is the instructions in the herbicide books. How many litres per hectare do I need to spray. How many grams per litre is the concentrate? Thank goodness most of the containers simplify it a little by stating how many acres is will cover. |
