Subject: Re: Finishing Barns

n.c.iowa

in the '90's,there were more companies building hog barns than i can remember, they all had some trick design, some stood the test of time others did not,one of our personal barns was built by a national co.that had a local presence, our barn was built in '95.it is total slat,  curtained sided ,our barn was the first of several built in the area over several years.i have been in several of the other barns built later by the same co.and it would be hard to believe, ceilings falling in or rusted out, electrical systems shot, slats worn out, roof sagging, etc.in our barns,my dad believed in diligent maintenance,so today our barns look pretty much the same as the day they were built.whether a barn makes it 10 years or not, depends as much on the maintenance as the materials used to build it.      ohio shoot me a email address if you want.
