Iowa
There are better ways to make money than to spend a half-million$$ (or more) to be a hog janitor, especially if you don't personally need the manure.

There is a great deal of difference between hobby-farming a few animals with no debt and caring for thousands with huge debt...

Ohio is densely populated. Why not start your own service-type business? Nurture it for a few years, put every penny you make back into it at first, hire good help, and have then MAKE YOU MONEY while you do something else (your present job)?? A way smaller investment and a much higher potential. There are good people you can hire that are smart, but can't come up with the $$ to run their own business because they want a big house and 2 nice cars (all on credit)the day they get out of school. Drive your old car, live in your old (maybe even rented) house, and find one of those guys and hire him.

"If you show up when you say you're going to, complete the job when you say you are going to, and do good work, there is no limit to what you can make"--Dave Ramsey

Added plus: you won't be pulling a dead hog out of a long alleyway on Christmas morning while your family is opening their presents.
