Finger Lakes | I don't know how old you are or how much education and/ or experience you have, so I hope this isn't off base. If you are inexperienced, sell the cows, get out of debt and hire on with a successful farmer in the area. In the right situation ( the boss would have to be a mentoring type) you can gain a lot of experience & business savvy in a couple of years. Farm your own dirt on your off time from the job. If you're young you can live on very little sleep a few weeks out of the year. I don't totally disagree with putting the debt onto the land, but make sure you can turn a profit..... the farm is at risk now. You said you have this debt due to a couple of bad years, reorganizing debt doesn't create a profit that wasn't there. Be truthful with yourself and analyze where you are and how you got there. But as most said with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude you'll make it. Good luck
