North of London

YES that is an inexpensive heat bill.
Probably costs you less than it costs me to run my saws.
I was pretty sure you would have soft maple if not the Manitoba maple and they are different woods than the Sugar Maple.

Used to heat with wood stoves in our house.
Now have an outside furnace with hot water piped in to buildings for heat AND heats our hot water.

Heat the house which is a good size being main house that is 140-50 years old but redone for insulation with a good sized addition only 15 years old.
Also heat a 40X80 shop with hot water there too.

Use quite a few cord of wood each year but am just cleaning up dead wood now since we have had a big die off of Hickory and Ash.
Would not use a lot of that if I had to take it into the house like we used to but need to clean some of the trees up as they fall down across trails and out in the fields.

Soon be almost 100% Sugar Maple in the woodlot, Hope it does not get a disease.

Had a family that are residents of Winnipeg spend last year in our neighbourhood.
They are now home again and his wife just emailed to say she does not know if her husband can stand the cold in Winnipeg now after last winter in Ontario. Course maybe she was thinking of herself.
