ECIL | We have a zero clearance insert fireplace and replace almost all propane and electric heat in our house as long as we keep a fire going steady. We burn mostly hedgeapple wood which burns hot and is very dense so it tends to pop pretty bad when you open the fireplace doors. Don't know for sure how this compares to oak or mesquite though. We've also burned some soft maple and hackberry, but hedge is by far the best heat. Good luck and be careful. | |
